Build Notes — Process

WHY I REBUILT MY PORTFOLIO THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY

Published 2026-10-21 · STARFORD DEV

This site is the third version of my portfolio, and all three were built on the same day. The first was a solid Flask app. The second matched the hosted design I liked more. The third — this one — split the single long page into a landing page plus dedicated pages for projects, skills, services and contact, with a proper admin console behind it.

Most people would have overwritten version one and moved on. I keep every version. Each build taught me something the previous one could not: the first proved the full-stack basics, the second was an exercise in matching a design system exactly, and the third is about structure and scale.

The rule I work by: never delete a version. Code and databases stay on disk even when a server is switched off, because yesterday's experiment is often tomorrow's starting point.
